My Story

Nicole Lana Camacho-Albert, aka Flutana, is a Native New Yorker with Puerto Rican roots who is a composer, flutist, educator, and community concert producer.  Her debut album, Full Circle, recorded in Summer 2020, is a collection of her solo flute and solo alto flute compositions which contain a unique language of sounds thought to be a connection to her ancestral and spiritual heritage.  Outside of this solo project, Nicole has recorded with artists such as American Singer/ Songwriter Twyla Joi, Norwegian singer/ songwriter Kjersti Kveli, American Jazz Harpist Brandee Younger, and Contemporary Artists Andy Akiho, Ronen Shai, and Matthew Hough.  She is currently a part of Bit Flip Radio, an ambient, improvised flute and electronics duo that she performs in along with technologist Drake Andersen. Bit Flip Radio’s music is at the intersection of art pop, free improv, and contemporary classical music.  A frequent performer in the Avant Media Festival, Nicole’s musicianship was highlighted in a NY Times review for a group performance of John Cage’s “Apartment House 1776”.  In 2016, she accompanied Corinne Bailey Rae, Imani Uzuri, and Marsha Ambrosius as a part of the Black Girls Rock Orchestra on BET.
